The 1 is read as a starting position rather than a finished quality: the impulse to move before the situation is fully mapped, and the discomfort of waiting for someone else to move instead.

How the number is reached
Take 1940-01-04. Summing every digit of the date gives 19 → 10 → 1, so the whole-date convention returns 1. Reducing the month, day and year separately first gives 1 + 4 + 5 = 10 → 1, so the component convention returns 1 — the same answer.
How often it happens
Across 28,896 birth dates — days 1 to 28 of every month from 1940 to 2025 — life path 1 comes up 3,212 times (11.1%) under the whole-date convention and 3,212 times (11.1%) under the component convention.
Within that sample the two conventions never disagree about this number.
What this does not tell you
Being born on a date that reduces to 1 says nothing about whether you actually lead anything. It is a symbol, not a measurement.
