The 3 is read as the number of expression: making the internal external, whether by talking, writing, drawing or performing.

Expression can be a way of processing or a way of avoiding, and from the inside those two feel almost identical.
How the number is reached
Take 1940-01-06. Summing every digit of the date gives 21 → 3, so the whole-date convention returns 3. Reducing the month, day and year separately first gives 1 + 6 + 5 = 12 → 3, so the component convention returns 3 — the same answer.
How often it happens
Across 28,896 birth dates — days 1 to 28 of every month from 1940 to 2025 — life path 3 comes up 3,211 times (11.1%) under the whole-date convention and 3,211 times (11.1%) under the component convention.
Within that sample the two conventions never disagree about this number.
What this does not tell you
This is a claim about a symbol, not about talent. No arithmetic on a date can tell you whether you can write.
